Frau Hewitt Classroom policies
I. Materials: You will need the following items: a. a three ring binder b. filler paper c. 4 dividers d. pencils or BLUE or BLACK pens This binder may be checked periodically throughout the semester.
II. Attendance: a. You are expected to be INSIDE the classroom BEFORE the bell rings b. Repeated tardiness will result in the following consequences: 1. First offense: Warning 2. Second offense: Warning/ detention/parent contact 3. Third offense: detention/ office referral 4. Subsequent offences: referrals to office c. Five unlawful absences per marking period will result in failure of the class.
III. Bathroom privileges a. You will be allowed to use the bathroom at my discretion. If I suspect the privilege is being abused, your bathroom visits will be restricted. b. You MAY NOT leave the room without your PLANNER. c. If you are in my period 4/5 class, you will NOT be permitted to use the restroom immediately after lunch.
IV. Classroom procedure a. Please be seated before the bell rings. b. Please do not pack up or stand up to leave until I indicate that class has ended. You will not be permitted to leave the classroom until the room is orderly, and everyone is in his/her seat.
V. Missed work: a. If you are absent and permitted to make up the work (according to school policy), go to the missed work binder and retrieve the necessary notes, worksheets and homework. b. It is YOUR responsibility to get make-up work and schedule missed tests or quizzes. c. Missed work and notes may also be accessed online.
V. Classroom rules 1. Please remain in your seats unless authorized to leave them!
2. Please use appropriate language in the classroom. Swearing and other inappropriate words will not be tolerated, and will result in disciplinary action.
3. We always say please and thank you, and we always demonstrate polite manners. Bad attitudes will NOT be tolerated.
4. We NEVER throw things! This will result in immediate disciplinary action.
5. Please be academically honest! Cheating on any assignments designated as solo work or on quizzes/tests will result in a zero on the assignment/assessment, with a possible detention or referral to the office, depending on the circumstances.
6. We only speak positively about other students or faculty.
7. Pleasetreat my property and the property of other students with respect. (Failure to do so will result in loss of privileges and/or disciplinary action)
8. Deutsch macht Spass! My intention for all of my classes is to have fun while learning. This is only possible when the above rules are followed.
VI. Consequences to violations of class rules: 1. First offense: Warning 2. Second offense: (depending on situation) separation from other students/ detention/ phone call home 3. Determined at discretion of teacher (referral, phone call home, etc.)
VII. Extra Help a. I am available before or after school if you need extra help. b. Please schedule an appointment with me in advance. c. Please bring specific questions, assignments, or tests and quizzes.
VIII. Borrowing materials a. You are expected to be respectful of items in my classroom. If you need to borrow an item, you must trade in an item of your own, which you will receive back at the end of class.
